Gut friendly probiotic frozen muffins

Kefir is high in nutrients and probiotics, making it an excellent dietary inclusion for digestion and gut health. I actually found out that the word Kefir (keyif) is Turkish in origin and refers to feeling good after eating. In my opinion, the definition doesn’t lie.

Kefir is a fermented drink, traditionally made with cow’s milk or goat’s milk. It tastes similar to yogurt but has a thinner consistency and is a little sourer in taste. Kefir is also higher in probiotics when compared to equal serves of yogurt. Probiotics can help restore the balance of friendly bacteria in your gut. While it still has dairy, it can often be better tolerated by lactose-intolerant people.

  • Pour Kefir yogurt or natural yogurt into moulds until 3/4 full

  • Top with a sprinkling of granola and fresh fruit (I used strawberries)

  • Place the tray in the freezer and remove once set

  • Store in the freezer until ready to eat

Your hands may get a little messy but totally worth it. Alternatively serve with tooth picks or in a bowl.
